📊 Your Popularity Source

This one choice decides which popularity value powers all your scores - opportunity, keyword insights, and download estimates, on every tab. Click a card to select it. Switching is instant and fully reversible.

Whichever you choose, both values stay visible side by side everywhere popularity appears - only the math changes. Selecting recalculates every score immediately.

What exactly changes when I switch?
  • Changes instantly, including your full history and trends: popularity, opportunity, insight labels, and download estimates - everywhere in the app.
  • Never changes: difficulty. It measures your competition, not search volume.
  • Keywords outside Apple's top terms stay consistent: under the Apple source, keywords not among Apple's top 500 per category are scored with the calibrated estimate, aligned to Apple's 1-100 scale and marked EST* - one consistent ruler across all your keywords.
  • Saved AI analyses keep their numbers: each report states which source it used, so it always matches the AI's written strategy. New and refined runs use your current selection.
  • AI aggregate scores follow the source: scores computed from popularity (for example the Simulator's ASO Readiness) can differ noticeably between sources - the result page tells you when the other source would paint a different picture.
  • Nothing is lost: both values keep being recorded, so switching back restores exactly what you had.

Which should I choose?

We recommend Apple Ads: where Apple publishes data, it is Apple's own measurement, and where it does not, that absence is itself real information about search volume. The RespectASO estimate remains a full-coverage, open-methodology alternative - and it always stays visible beside Apple's numbers.

EST RespectASO Estimate

  • +Works instantly for every keyword, in all 30 storefronts
  • +Open methodology - see exactly how the score is built
  • +No account or setup needed
  • −An estimate from observable App Store signals, not Apple's own measurement - on high-volume keywords it can disagree with Apple's data noticeably

ASA Apple Ads Popularity

  • +Popularity as Apple itself measures it, via Apple's official Apple Ads Platform API
  • +Granular 1-100 values plus each keyword's category rank - refreshed weekly, automatically
  • +No ads or spend required - a free Apple Ads account with a one-time API key setup
  • −Apple only reports each category's top 500 search terms per storefront. Keywords outside them are scored with the calibrated estimate, aligned to the same scale and marked EST*.
  • −Weekly snapshots, not real-time (Apple publishes each completed week on Mondays)
  • −No data for storefronts where Apple Ads does not operate (for example Russia) - those use the estimate

Everything here is automatic: each new week is picked up right after Apple publishes it, and up to 65 weeks of history backfill in the background for keyword trends. Keywords not in Apple's top terms are outside their category's top 500 - that bounds their popularity, it is not an error.
